SUPPORT FAQ'S & ANSWERS
If you forgot your username and
password and need to renew your domain name,
please
follow this link.
REGISTRATION
The cost to register a domain name is $15.00 per year. As long as you pay the yearly fee, the domain is yours.
If there's a domain you'd like to check availability for, you should enter it into the searchbox
on our homepage. If it's available, click the checkout button and go through the
registration process.
The first time you register a name with AddressThis, you'll need to set up an account with a username and password. This is how you will get access to your domains later. You may specify whatever username and password you'd like, as long as it has not been taken by another applicant. If your username has been taken, you will have to specify another username.
Continue on through the registration process, and your name will be submitted. You will get a confirmation email at the email address you've chosen. You will also receive all email
correspondence through that email address, as well.
If you have any other questions, just let me know.
REGISTRATION FAILURE
The most common reason for an attempted registration not to go through is
failure to complete the process. After a domain shows up as
"Available", and you click the "Checkout" button, you're
prompted for your account information. If you don't have an existing account
with us, you must create a new account.
After the new account has been created, some people stop the registration process, thinking, "I've put in my credit card details, so I must be done". The process must continue, however, by clicking the "Continue" button. Then, you must choose your term length, and finally, you must confirm all the details are correct.
On the final confirmation page is the "Submit" button. A registration is not complete until you have pressed the "Submit" button, and received an online confirmation. You'll also receive an email confirmation for a successful registration, assuming your email address is correct.
If you have failed to register a domain, you may return to the website and
search for the domain again. When it comes up as available, you may checkout,
using the existing username and password you created the first time- the account
is still valid.
RECEIPT
Receipts and complete billing records may now be found online, in your account
manager. Log in with your username and password, and in the "Manage Your
Domain" section, click the "Billing History/Receipts" link.
You'll find your transactions there, and may print out a copy to serve as your
receipt.
CASH ACCOUNTS
Cash accounts usually mean our bank is unwilling to take the credit card
supplied. We recommend trying another card.
AUTHORIZATIONS
When you attempt to make a purchase in our credit card system, we
"authorize" funds on your credit card. This is not a charge, but a
test to see if you have the funds available for the purchase. After the
authorization returns a result of sufficient funds, we attempt to register the
domain(s). If the domain registration fails for any reason, there will be a void
that accompanies the attempted charge. The net result is that there will be no
charge that posts to your account.
There is still, though, that authorization on your credit card. This authorization looks like a charge, and will reduce your available credit, but will expire on its own within a few days on most cards. Some card systems, notably debit cards and PayPal cards (because they both deal with your bank account) hang on to authorizations longer. You should contact your credit provider for the specific authorization policy.
It is for this reason that we recommend contacting technical support if you
are having trouble registering a domain. If you continue to submit time after
time, you will rack up a large number of authorizations, and may run out of
available credit or freeze your account funds. You may even cause your credit
card company to suspect fraud, and they will put a hold on your card.
CVV2
CVV2 is a security measure we require for all transactions. Since a CVV2 number
is listed on your credit card, but is not stored anywhere, the only way to know
the correct CVV2 number for your credit card is to physically have possession of
the card itself. All VISA, MasterCard and American Express cards made in America
in the past 5 years or so have a CVV2 number, while those in Europe and Asia
will be joining the CVV2 program shortly.
For a complete explanation of the CVV2 number, and how to locate it on your
credit card, click here:
https://secure.onlineaccess.net/cart/cvv2.php?IYD=1&ID=
If you have any other questions about your CVV2 number, please contact your
bank or credit card issuer.
CALL VOICE CENTER
Your credit card company has questions regarding the validity of the charge you
attempted with us. Please contact your credit card company and identify yourself
as the card-holder (most credit card companies use your mother's maiden name or
your social security number for security).
After you have verified your identity and your intent to complete this transaction, your credit card company will allow the charge to go through unhindered.
You may then return to the transaction and submit it again.
BAD CARD
There are many reasons to return a value of Declined. There may be a typo in your credit card number, the
expiration date may be invalid, the CVV2 number may be incorrect, the address
(especially ZIP code) may not match exactly. There may also be a problem on the credit card company's end- the credit
limit has been reached, the card has been reported stolen, etc.
If you are renewing a domain or other service, check to ensure that the default information in the account is accurate and up to date. The default account information is transmitted automatically for these transactions, you don't have to submit it with the renewal. In the manager, click the "Update Account Information" link. You'll be able to update the email address for your account, your default registrant & contact info, your default nameservers and your default credit card information.
You should re-check all of the credit card data before submitting it again very carefully to rule out an error on your part, then contact your credit card company to resolve the status of the card.
Please attempt your transaction again, and if it fails, contact support.
Please include the username of your account and how much you need added to your
account manually. We will charge the default credit card in the account- please
make sure the details of your billing address and credit card are accurate, and
include the CVV2 number off of your card, please.
NO HOSTING
AddressThis does not do any web hosting or web design, just domain registration only.
You will need to contract out for separate web hosting- you can do a web search for hosting, and get thousands of results to choose from.
We Recommend www.1HourHosting.com.
Once you have hosting, obtain your new host's DNS (Domain Name Server) Information. Once you have their DNS info, you can return to the
AddressThis website and update your DNS records online, gaining access to our Member Login area with your username and password.
Or, if you have a free site (such as a members site with AOL or Geocities), you can point your domain there by using our URL-forwarding option.
CHANGING HOSTING
You have several options to change the hosting of your domain.
The first option is the most direct. You can contact your host, and obtain your new host's DNS (Domain Name Server) Information. Once you have their DNS info, you can return to the
AddressThis website and update your DNS records online, gaining access to our Member Login area with your username and password. Choose the Change DNS Info link, then select the domain you wish to change the hosting for and enter your new DNS information.
Some hosts, though, will not allow unique domains to point to your site. In that case, you'll need the second option. That is our URL-forwarding service. URL-forwarding is a function of the management control panel. Access the Manage section through our Member Login with your username and password, and select the URL-forwarding link. You can choose either free service, which will place an
AddressThis banner on your website, or pay the nominal fee of just $6.00 per name per year to receive banner-free forwarding to the URL of your choice.
You can use a www URL- http : //www.yourcompany.com/yourexamplesite.html, or a host URL- http : //12.34.56.789.
Both options will take 24-48 hours to take effect.
CHANGING DNS
Your host should have given you the primary and secondary DNS information. This information will usually take this form:
Primary Hostname- ns1.examplehostname.com
Primary IP- 123.45.67.8
Secondary Hostname- ns2.examplehostname.com
Secondary IP- 123.45.67.9
You can log on to our website at www.AddressThis.com, and click the "Member Login" link in our "Manage" section. Enter the username and password you chose at the time of registration. If you have forgotten the username and password you chose, you may enter the email address you entered at the time of registration to have your username and password emailed to you.
After you log in, you will see links to the actions you can perform. Click the "Change DNS Info" link. You will be able to see the current nameserver info listed. Select the
domain(s) whose hosting you wish to alter, and click the "Continue" button.
On the next screen, you will be able to enter the hosting information your host has given to you. Replace the current servers with the new server info (you may omit the IP addresses, as they are optional), and click the "Continue" button. Your new DNS information will be automatically entered, if it is verified to be valid.
It will take a couple of days (24 - 48 hours) for your change to propagate Internet-wide.
URL-FORWARDING
URL-forwarding is available as a service from AddressThis.
It will take a couple of days for your change to propagate Internet-wide. Your domain will be hosted on our servers, and will pull up the webpage you specify. Therefore, you cannot specify meta tags or other domain information. Your name will be in the address bar of the browser window at all times- your "real" web address will be hidden.
You may change your forwarding destination at any time through the management
control panel. Simply log back in to the Enable URL-forwarding section, and
update your web address. Click the Enable URL-forwarding to update the address.
EMAIL FORWARDING
Email forwarding is available as a service of AddressThis. You can have "anymailrecipient @
yourdomain.com" mail forwarded to any existing email address.
To activate email forwarding, log on to the Manage section via the Member Login link on the left-hand side of our website. Enter your username and password. If you have forgotten your username and password, enter the email address you used at the time of registration, and we will email you your username and password.
Once you've logged on, click the Enable Email Forwarding link. Select what email address you'd like to set up for your domain, as well as the email address you'd like to forward that email to. If your real email address changes, no problem. Just return to the Control Panel and the email forwarding section and update your email address.
The cost for email forwarding is $8.00 per year for up to 10 addresses. You may
purchase an additional 10 addresses for $8.00. It will take 24-48 hours for your email to begin forwarding.
TRANSFERS
If your domain was registered with another registrar, you can transfer it to AddressThis.com, and choose
AddressThis as your new registrar.
The cost to transfer a domain is just $11.95, and this adds one year on to your registration term. For example, if your name expires in January of 2002, you can transfer it to us and once the transfer is complete, the new expiration date will be January of 2003.
To begin, click on the Transfer Registrars link at www.AddressThis.com. If you have an existing account with us, enter your username and password. If you have never used our services before, click on the New Users button, and set up an account with a username and password. This is how you will get access to your domain once the transfer is complete.
You will receive confirmation of your request immediately. Also, within 24 hours, the administrative contact listed in the WHOIS record will be asked to verify the transfer request. Please make sure that the admin contact's email is up-to-date before submitting a name for transfer.
In the admin approval email, there will be a link to click on, and a code to cut and paste. Once you've approved the transfer, your prior registrar may email you their own confirmation letter. Read it carefully and follow the instructions. Once you've approved the transfer with them, your name should migrate to our system within 5-7 days.
FOR THIS REASON, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU BEGIN THE TRANSFER PROCEDURE AT LEAST TWO
WEEKS PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION DATE.
You should also be aware that Network Solutions has a policy of not releasing
domains for transfer beginning 30 days prior to expiration. If your domain is
registered with NSI, we recommend at least 6 weeks lead time on a transfer.
The information currently contained in your domain will remain the same prior to, during and after the transfer. Once the domain has successfully transferred to our system, you may begin using the online management system to make any changes you like.
ADMIN APPROVAL
Admin approval for your domain(s) was sent to .
If this email address is out of date, you'll have to contact your prior registrar to update it.Once your
new email address has posted to the WHOIS lookup of the admin contact on your
prior registrar's site, you may return to the domain manager and click on the
Check Transfer Status link to resubmit the admin contact email.
When you have approved the transfer with us, you should get an email from your prior registrar to confirm. Please read it carefully and follow the instructions to the letter. Once you verify the transfer request with your prior registrar, your name should transfer to our system in 3-5 days. This assumes, of course, that the registration term has not expired. If your registration is expired, your name will not transfer. You will have to renew your domain with your prior registrar, and then continue the transfer process.
RETRANSFER
The domain(s) has been resubmitted for transfer. You should get an email from your prior registrar to confirm. Please read it carefully and follow the instructions to the letter.
If you do not receive an email from them within one business day, you may wish
to contact your prior registrar to ensure they release the domain for transfer.
Once you verify the transfer request with your prior registrar, your name should transfer to our system in 3-5 days. This assumes, of course, that the registration term has not expired. If your registration is expired, your name will not transfer. You will have to renew your domain with your prior registrar, and then continue the transfer process.
NSI
If your domain will not transfer because it has expired, or if your registry has
it locked until you renew it, you do have a couple of options. One is to pay the
registrar their fee to renew it for a year, and then continue the transfer. The
other is to allow the name to be released, and then try to re-register it. We
don't recommend the second option under any circumstances.
It's entirely possible that someone else will get your domain before you have a chance to reserve it. Additionally, it is the policy of some registrars (most notably Network Solutions) not to release the domain no matter how long it has been expired. If you want the domain at all, you'll have to pay them at some point, sooner or later.
Therefore, we recommend that you do renew the name with your prior registrar for one additional year. Then, you can continue the transfer process to our system. You lose nothing by doing both. You'll get a one year renewal from your prior registrar, and then we will add one MORE year on to the end of your term.
If you have already paid for a domain transfer, and it has been denied by
your registrar, you can keep the transfer active, and, as previously mentioned,
continue the transfer after you have cleared your hold status at your prior
registrar. Should you choose to cancel the transfer, however, we'll be happy to
refund your money. All we need is the domain you're trying to transfer.
EMAIL LINK
If your link returns a value of "invalid key" after you paste the
approval code in, this is most likely a result of multiple emails being sent
out. The latest version of your admin approval email makes all older versions
obsolete, and any key off these old emails will not function properly. If you
receive an invalid key warning, check for a later email in your inbox. If it's
not there, use the Check Transfer Status tool in the Domain Manager to have a newer one sent.
If the link you're clicking on for transfers returns this response- "Warning, your ID is invalid. Contact technical support", then the remedy is to have the entire link contained in the browser window.
Some email programs have a "page-wrap" feature that breaks our link into two parts, like this:
"If you wish to verify and approve the transfer(s), visit the following link:
https://secure.onlineaccess.net/trans.php?
email=email@domain.com&key=ti&FID=&IYD=1&secID="
For conveniences' sake, let's break this down like this:
"If you wish to verify and approve the transfer(s), visit the following link:
linkpart1
linkpart2"
You will have to copy (CTRL + C) the first part of the link (which begins with "https:" and ends with "?" in the case above) and paste (CTRL + V) into the address bar your browser window. Do not hit GO or hit the Enter key yet. Return to the email and copy the second part of the link on the line below the first one (which begins with "email" and ends with "=" in the case above) and copy it into the address bar of your browser window, after the first part of the link you pasted there earlier.
In your browser window then, the address you need to go to is:
linkpart1linkpart2
CHECK TRANSFER STATUS
You can use the Check Transfer Status tool to manage your domain transfer away
from your previous registrar to our system.
Access the Manage section through our Member Login with your username and password, and select the Check Transfer Status link. Your domain transfers will appear. Some will require no intervention from you (marked in green). Others (marked in yellow) may require you to resubmit an admin approval email if the domain has not been approved for transfer with us. Or, you may resubmit a domain for transfer to your prior registrar if it has been approved on our end, but your prior registrar denied the transfer.
If a domain appears in red, it's status cannot be determined automatically. Please contact us for help with these domains.
A domain that has successfully completed transfer will appear in blue.
Some of the most common reasons for your prior registrar denying the transfer
include:
Not answering their confirmation email in time.
Not answering their confirmation email in the proper format.
The domain is expired or otherwise locked due to nonpayment.
CANCELLING TRANSFERS
If you have received an email asking you to approve the transfer of a
domain, and you do not wish the domain to transfer, simply do nothing. If the
admin contact listed for a domain does not approve a transfer request, the
transfer will not happen.
If you wish to cancel a transfer that has not yet been approved, we will need you to email either the confirmation email you received when you requested the transfer OR the admin approval email sent by us to New Domain@Addressthis . Com. Please paste or attach the email to your request to cancel the transfer.
If you wish to cancel a transfer that has been approved, and have your money
refunded to you, we will need you to email either the confirmation email you
received when you requested the transfer OR the admin approval email sent by us
to New Domain@ AddressThis .Com Please paste or attach the email to your request to cancel the transfer and
refund your money. 10 days must have elapsed from the approval date in order for
the transfer to be deleted and refunded.
OUTGOING TRANSFERS
Transfers to another registrar are sometimes a tricky issue. You must first
initiate a request with your new registrar. The admin contact must verify your
intent to transfer with your new registrar. Once the transfer has been confirmed
with your new registrar, they will initiate a transfer request with us. All
outgoing transfers are automated. Upon receiving a transfer request, we email
the administrative contact for their consent. This is required. Additionally,
the domain request should be made with plenty of time remaining in your term.
When your domain is close to expiration, it is placed on temporary hold in
preparation for release.
The following are some reasons why your transfer request may have been denied:
1. The admin contact did not properly approve the transfer. The email may have been ignored, or deleted, or you may never have received it if your ISP filtered it out as spam. If you got the email, it contains a link for approval that must be clicked within 3 days. If approval is given by the administrative contact in the prescribed manner within the time frame allotted, the transfer will be approved. If not, the transfer will be denied for security reasons.
2. The domain is less than 10 days from expiration. If your domain is 10 days or less from expiration, it has been placed on temporary lock in preparation for release. The temporary lock can be removed by renewing the domain. Otherwise, the domain will be released upon expiration. Following renewal, your domain cannot be transferred for 60 days, but then you may renew your transfer request at your discretion. These time periods are clearly noted in section 6 of our Terms of Service.
IF YOUR TRANSFER HAS BEEN DENIED FOR ANY REASON, YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR NEW REGISTRAR AND HAVE THEM RE-SUBMIT THE TRANSFER REQUEST.
Please check to ensure the admin contact's email address is valid, and that your ISP does not have filtering software. Also, please check the expiration date of your domain.
You must direct all inquiries regarding outgoing transfers to your
new registrar. This is not because we are trying to make your life difficult, it
is that all transactions and inquiries must be submitted by whomever you choose
as your new registrar. Additionally, please keep in mind that you are
transferring OUT of our system, meaning that you no longer wish to pay for and
use our services. You should contact whomever you do choose to pay for their
services, as we do not have the staff to support unpaid services. We can check
on outgoing transfers if you email the domain to New
Domain@Addressthis . Com.
LOST USERNAME/ PASSWORD
If you have forgotten (or do not know) the username and/or password for a domain
account, you can:
1.) Request it via email
OR
2.) Verify the credit card used to purchase the domain
OR
3.) Prove you are the owner of the domain
1.)
Log on to www.AddressThis.com, and click on the Member Login link in the
Manage section. There is a "Forgot Your Password?" section, where you can enter
your email address. We will email your username and password immediately.
IMPORTANT- Depending on your mail system, it may take some time to receive, usually no longer than 15 minutes. You must enter the email address you used at the time of registration.
PLEASE NOTE- this must be an EXACT match. If there was a typo or any other error
when you submitted this email address and/or the email address can no longer
receive mail, that cannot be helped. You must move on to Step 2 or Step 3 in
this case. ALSO, this email address is the default email address for the
account holder. The email address of any of the contacts is NOT valid. Only the
email address for the account can retrieve the username and password.
2.) If you have forgotten the username and password, AND your email address is incorrect or out of date, you will have to provide the last 4 digits of the credit card used to register the name. Also provide the new, correct email address so that we can update your info and send your username and password. Email that information to New Domain@Addressthis . Com.
3.) If you have forgotten your username and password, AND your email address is
incorrect or out of date, AND you cannot verify your credit card information,
you will be asked to provide proof of ownership and identity. We will first need a written request to provide access to the domain.
This request MUST contain the following information- the domain(s) in question,
the request for access to said domain, as well as your contact address,
preferably email.
Accompany this request with a valid photo ID (passport, drivers license, etc.)
If the domain is registered to a company, we will need the signatory page of the
articles of incorporation for that company. All of this information is required
for security reasons. If you cannot provide any or all of this information, you
will not be able to get access to this domain. Please fax all of this
information to (847) 895-4123, or scan it in and email to support@AddressThis.com. Include your contact information (email and
phone), so that we may verify the information's validity.
NAMESERVER MANAGEMENT
Go to our website at www.AddressThis.com and access the Member Login link in the Management section with the username and password of the account containing the domain you wish to specify as the hostname of your new
nameservers.
Click the Nameserver Management link. You will be able to create new nameservers,
edit current nameservers, or delete current nameservers. The nameserver you wish
to create must be a domain in this account. Click the New button to create new
nameservers. Then, you will choose your new server hostnames- i.e. NS1.YOURNEWSERVERHOSTNAME.COM & NS2.YOURNEWSERVERHOSTNAME.COM. You must also fill in the IP addresses that you wish to associate with your new hostnames. You must use 2 unique static IP addresses- no other servers may already use the
IPs. After each nameserver submission, click the Continue button.
If your information is valid, your nameservers will be sent to the central database. It will take 24-48 hours for your nameservers
to propagate.
Please note, this is the limit of our tech support- if you need support on how to configure your server or any other issue, you must get outside support.
HISTORY TRAIL
We receive hundreds of emails per day. In all of our outgoing correspondence, we
ask you to "Please keep all prior transmissions on the same e-mail when you
reply." This is so that we may see the entire issue (and all of the relevant
dialogue regarding that issue) on one email, without having to dig out any past
emails you may have sent.
This is what is known as a "History Trail". It means that when you reply to an email, the text of the email you are replying to is included in the new email.
With most e-mail programs, you can select to automatically include the text of the email you are responding to. With some (most notably AOL), that option is absent. Therefore, you must copy and paste the text of the email you are responding to into your return email manually. Highlight all the text and then simultaneously hit the Control (CTRL) + C (Copy) buttons on your keyboard. Then, place your cursor into the new email and simultaneously hit the Control (CTRL) + V (Paste) buttons on your keyboard.
Then you may type your new response to our email. We thank you for making the
process of answering your support questions as easy as possible.
RENEWALS
You can renew your domain you registered at, or transferred to, AddressThis.com for up to 10 years.
Simply log on to our website at www.AddressThis.com, and click the "Member Login" link in our "Manage" section. Enter the username and password you chose at the time of registration. If you have forgotten the username and password you chose, you may enter the email address you entered at the time of registration to have your username and password emailed to you.

You will then be asked about your payment information. Click the Continue button to finalize the renewal.
IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO RENEW YOUR NAMES- use the "Disable Renewal
Notices" link in the manager. You will not receive further reminders to
renew your names, and they will be released immediately after the expiration date.
https://secure.onlineaccess.net/cart/manage.php?IYD=1&promo=RNWL
DISABLING RENEWALS
If you do not wish to renew any of your domains, and you do not want to receive
renewal emails, you can stop the emails from being sent, and your domain will
expire at the end of it's term.
Simply log on to our website at www.AddressThis.com, and click the "Member Login" link in our "Manage" section. Enter the username and password you chose at the time of registration. If you have forgotten the username and password you chose, you may enter the email address you entered at the time of registration to have your username and password emailed to you.
You will see links to all of the actions that you can perform. One of the links
is to "Disable Renewal Notices". Click that link, and check the box next to each
domain you wish not to renew. Click the Continue button.
You will be prompted for confirmation, as this action means your domains will be
released at the end of their term. Click the "Yes" button to finalize
the disabling of your chosen domains.
REGISTRANT INFO CHANGES
Changing the registrant information (ownership) of a domain, or updating the
information of the registrant (owner) can be done online
through the domain manager.
To begin, click the Member Login link on the left-hand side of our website at
www.AddressThis.com. Enter your username and password. If you have forgotten
your username and password, you can enter the email address you used at the time
of registration to receive your username and password via email.
Once you're in the Management system, if you wish to change the registrant info
for a domain, click the "Ownership Change" link in the Change/Update
Information section.
If this is your first visit to the Ownership Change section, you'll be prompted to set up a security password for your own protection. You must choose a question and provide the answer. You will be prompted for this answer every time you return to this section. PLEASE NOTE: Please choose something memorable. If you forget your answer, you will not be able to change it without contacting support.
Once you are in the section, you may click on the domain you wish to alter the ownership of. If you have a large number of domains, you can browse through your list 50 at a time, or you can search for a specific domain. Once you have clicked on the domain, the current information will be displayed. Please make any changes necessary, and then click the Continue button. Your changes will be finalized (if there are no errors) immediately, reflecting the new owner right away. We will keep a log of all the old information, for future reference, if there is ever any question.
PLEASE NOTE: You may use contact info of your choice for a domain registrant.
Many people are reluctant to use their personal information, especially if a
domain may be objectionable to some. That is understandable, however, ICANN
policy is that contact information must be valid, as is laid out in our Terms of
Service. We encourage you to use business-related (or other, more secure)
contact information, rather than your home contact info. Should you use totally
invalid contact information, and someone objects, that can be used against you
to terminate your domain.
OWNERSHIP CHANGE
It is a two-step process to change ownership of a domain.
BUYER (NEW OWNER, NEW REGISTRANT)
The first step is to create an account, if you do not already have one with us.
You will need this account to manage the domain once the ownership has changed
hands. There is no charge to sign up for a new account.
The best way to create a new account is to go to this link:
https://secure.onlineaccess.net/cart/newuser.php?IYD=1
Once you have created a new account, or if you have an existing account, contact the current owner and give them the username (NOT the password) of your account. Ask them to follow these instructions to change ownership and move the domain into your account.
SELLER (FORMER OWNER, PRIOR REGISTRANT)
Changing the registrant information (ownership) of a domain, or updating the
information of the registrant (owner) can be done online through the domain
manager.
Then, you can move the domain to the buyer's (new owner's, new registrant's) account. Once you are logged in to the Ownership Change section, click on the "Move Your Domain" link, then click the domain that you want to move. Specify the username of the new account, and verify it.
PLEASE NOTE, you must specify the exact username. If you unintentionally move your domain to an incorrect account, you will need to contact support to verify your ownership of the domain in order to retrieve it.
Once you have filled in the username of the account to move the domain to,
and verified it, click the Continue button. We will transfer the domain(s) into
the account with the name you've specified immediately.

SECURE CONTACT INFO
You may use contact info of your choice for a domain. Many people are reluctant to use their personal information, especially if a domain may be objectionable to some.
That is understandable, however, ICANN policy is that contact information must
be valid, as is laid out in our Terms of Service. We encourage you to use
business-related (or other, more secure) contact information, rather than your
home contact info. Should you use totally invalid contact information, and
someone objects, that can be used against you to terminate your domain.
You may log into your account, and use the Edit/Manage Contact Handles section to update your contact information to whatever you like. (Please see "Changing Contact Info" below). You may also use the domain manager to update the registrant information to whatever you like. (Please see "Registrant Info Changes" below).

INTERNIC UPDATES
It usually takes two business days for updates made online at AddressThis to
be seen elsewhere on the web, including hosting information.
This is standard Internet propagation time.
Additionally, some registrars whois databases are not compatible with others. You may wish to use a central whois lookup, as one registrar may not carry another's info.
Your best bet is always to look up a domain at the registrar of record. To find out who the registrar is for a name, go to
http://www.internic.net/whois.html.
WHOIS DATABASES
WHOIS databases are specific to each registrar. If you registered the name properly, it will show in our WHOIS database immediately. It will show in the InterNIC central database 24-48 hours later, but might not ever display in another registrar's
database. That doesn't mean someone else can register the name, the name record is still taken, but it might not show you as the
owner.
Your best bet is always to look up a domain at the registrar of record. To find out who the registrar is for a name, go to
http://www.internic.net/whois.html.
EXPIRED DOMAINS
Domains that expire at AddressThis are released after their term expires. Please remember when looking at a domain's expiration date that the format is Month/Day/Year- MM/DD/YEAR.
Domains that expire at another registrar are subject to their own policies. They do vary from registrar to registrar, however, there are some consistencies.
There is usually a grace period, and then a period when the domain is "on hold"- where nobody can do anything with it.
Generally, you will need to give a domain at least 30 days from the time of expiration to be released. You cannot put in any kind of "pre-claim" on the name. You'll have to wait until it is released by the registrar, and then register it manually. Lately, Network Solutions has adopted the policy of not releasing domain names. If a name expires at Network Solutions, they will require it to be re-registered at
NSI.
For a registrar's specific release policy, you should contact the registrar that owns the name. You can find out who is the registrar for a specific name by entering the name into the central database search engine at
http://www.internic.net/whois.html.
NAMESERVERS
A WHOIS query at the central database (http://www.internic.net/whois.html)
returned this result:
a
If these are the proper nameservers, then your domain has propagated there and is being hosted at those servers right now. Any issue, therefore, with the resolution of this domain needs to be resolved with your host. The problem is on their end. Please keep in mind, also, that you may be looking at a "cached" version of the website. Your computer, or the servers of your ISP, may have stored the location of the webpage for easier access. Such caches usually expire within a few days. You may experience success by hitting Shift + Refresh in your browser, or clearing your Temporary Internet Files. Again, though, the pages may be stored on your ISP's servers, in which case, you'll just have to wait a few days for the cache to clear.
If these are not the proper nameservers, you may log back into the manager to
update them at any time.
RELEASED DOMAINS- IYD RELEASE
Domains that expire at AddressThis are released after their term expires. Most are intentionally not
renewed, however, some are as a result of a miscommunication. The most common
reason for failing to renew a desired name is having a bad email contact.
We do send 5 renewal notices via email- they can be missed if the email address is out of date, invalid, the mailbox is full, etc. While it may be possible that one or two messages may not have gone out, it's extremely unlikely the email reminder program and mailserver missed all 5 emails over a period of up to 60 days. It's far more likely the problem is in the recipient mailbox. We have had trouble lately with our emails being filtered as possible SPAM messages. Regardless, we are not responsible for the loss or misdirection of the email expiration notices, they are a courtesy only.
Also, please keep in mind that the expiration date of any domain in your account can be viewed at any time. Simply log into the domain manager, and click the "Renew Your Domain" link. The domains in your account can even be sorted to show you which domains are expiring soonest. We encourage you to track your upcoming domain expirations in this manner and circumvent the expirations by renewing well before the expiration date and/or for multiple years (up to 10).
Regardless of the circumstances of the non-renewal, once your name has been released, it is fair game for anyone else to register it for themselves. The lists of names dropped from the registry are commonly circulated around the domain industry. If someone sees potential in your prior domain, and/or it has an established traffic pattern, the domain most likely will be registered. Please keep in mind, there was never any malicious intent on our part to deprive you of a name you feel you're entitled to, and there may not be any malicious intent on the part of the new owners, either.
If your prior domain has, indeed, been purchased by another party, you have 2 options.
You should attempt to contact the new owner of the domain, and see if they can help you regain your domain. Please remember that they are the rightful owners of this domain now. Just as you did when you first registered the name, they searched for it, it came up as available, and they paid for it.
Alternatively, you may resort to legal action against the new owners in
accordance with our Domain Dispute Policy.
DELETING DOMAINS
In order to delete a domain, we need the following information for security
purposes.
Please send an email to New Domain@Addressthis . Com. containing the domain and your request to delete it. Please include the username and password of the account this domain is in, as well as the last 4 digits of the credit card used to register the domain.
Upon receiving this email, we will delete the requested domains from your
account. A refund will be provided if the registration is less than 5 days old
(i.e. was registered 4 or fewer calendar days previously).
Anything past that time frame is not eligible for a refund.
SPAM
AddressThis takes spamming complaints seriously. We do not ourselves engage in
spamming practices.
As a low-cost domain registrar, however, some who do engage in such practices may have registered their domains with us. We are not associated with them in any other way. It would therefore be more practical for you to pursue your complaint against the spammer themselves, or with their hosting provider. Since spamming is not illegal per se (or at least, is not in OUR home state or country at this time), it requires a volume of complaints to the host in order to shut the nuisance down. You may also find success in reporting the spam to online anti-spam services- they will provide lists of known spammers freely, blocking their IP addresses.
You may determine the hosting servers by doing a WHOIS lookup. If the nameservers are ns3& ns4 .onlineaccess.net, then those are our forwarding servers. ANYTHING ELSE IS NOT US, AND YOU SHOULD CONTACT THAT HOST DIRECTLY TO REGISTER YOUR COMPLAINT, as we do not have the authority to terminate their domain for a nuisance activity not hosted on our servers alone.
If the nameservers are ns1 & ns2 .AddressThis.com, those are our parking servers. It is likely this domain has already been terminated and it's hosting status has been changed to our default servers- please note, we are NOT hosting their website, or their email. A domain must have servers listed, again, these are our default parking servers. We use them to place-hold suspened domains, among other things.
If the spammer is using our email or URL-forwarding servers of onlineaccess.net, that is a violation of our Terms of Service, and we will shut them down, rest assured, as we have no desire to have our bandwidth used for such purposes. We will also, of course, terminate the domain of anyone who is engaged in illegal activity with said domain- such as child pornography, terrorism, hate crimes, etc.
Thank you for your consideration. Please do not respond to this email, as we, too, wish to reduce the amount of email in our inboxes. If you do choose to respond, please note that there will most likely be no action taken on your response, and in all probability, you will not hear back from us.
MARKETING
AddressThis has had trouble recently with two issues. The first is that our
clients change their email address and don't update their new information in our
system. This has resulted in renewal notices going unheeded and domains being
released, despite the client's wish to hang on to them.
The second is that some of our clients have registered a domain, and then someone else has registered the same domain, except with one of our new extensions- .biz and .info. Once the new domains are registered, nobody else can have them, even if they registered the .com extension of the same name quite some time ago.
We have been working to correct these problems for our clients. We have marketers that want to help you lock up your domain long-term, and make you aware of the possibility of other extensions for your domain. They are absolutely authorized representatives of AddressThis, and are only trying to help you with your domain(s).
We thank you for your time regarding their efforts. If you have any other
questions or concerns please let us know.
MX RECORDS
Access to MX records (CNAME records, A records, etc.) is not allowed in our system. We do provide you with two
options to receive email.
The first is to specify the DNS information of your mail host. Most hosting companies provide email accounts with your hosting plan.
The other is to use our email forwarding services. This will allow mail from your domain to be redirected to an existing mail account.
PLEASE NOTE- you cannot do both. If your domain is being hosted on a website
hosting plan, you must get email through your host. If your domain is on our
email forwarding servers, you must use our URL-forwarding services to redirect
your domain to a website.
DNS INVALID
At least one of the nameservers you have specified is not valid for use with
TLD's (Top Level Domains- .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info) Please contact your
host and verify the DNS information. Your host must have registered their DNS
hostnames with the InterNIC central database in order for you to specify it as
the hosting servers of your TLD. (www.internic.net/whois.html)
Please be aware, the most common user error is inclusion of the IP addresses in the Hostname field. A valid hostname will take this form:
ns1.examplehostname.com
DO NOT include any IP address in this field:
ns1.examplehostname.com 213.456.78.90
That is invalid. Completely ignore the IP addresses, the only required
element is the hostnames. Concentrate solely on entering the hostnames into the
proper fields.
URL-FORWARDING CLOAKING
When you activate URL-forwarding, your domain is "cloaked". This means that
visitors will only see your domain in the browser address bar- they will not see
the "real" URL you are forwarding to. This is accomplished by using a frame on our servers, which then loads the
content of your site into that frame. This frame does not allow for any
modifications by you- either title bar or META tags, etc.
Cloaking may also interfere with the coding of some websites with dynamic features- javascripts, ID tags, etc. It will also interfere with secure websites, as part of your site will not be secure with cloaking. This will prevent the "lock" from showing up in browsers, etc.
We can, on request, deactivate cloaking for your domain. This will result in a straight redirect to your site, with no frame. All your code, including title and META tags, etc. will appear, but so will the "real" URL you are forwarding to.
If this is what you want, simply ask us to make this change for you. Please
provide the domain, and the username and password of your account.
USERNAME & PASSWORD FAILURE
Both the username and password are case-sensitive, and must be exact matches.
This means that "USER" is not an acceptable subsititute for "user"- you must
match the case of the original username and password you chose. The best way to
ensure your username and password are correct is to copy and paste them directly
from the email containing them.
Please remember that if you have more than one account with us using the same email address, you will receive all the username/password sets for all of your accounts.
To retrieve your username and password via email, log on to www.AddressThis.com, and click on the Member Login link in the Manage section. There is a "Forgot Your Password?" section, where you can enter your email address. We will email your username and password immediately. IMPORTANT- Depending on your mail system, it may take some time to receive, usually no longer than 15 minutes. You must enter the email address you used at the time of registration.
RELEASED DOMAINS - OTHER REGISTRAR
Your domain appears to have been released by your previous registrar. You may
wish to contact them regarding the circumstances. The most likely explanation is
failure to renew a name or other non-payment.
If the domain was registered with us, you may use the WHOIS link on our site to obtain their contact information. Please remember that they are the rightful owners of this domain now. Just as you did when you first registered the name, they searched for it, it came up as available, and they paid for it.
Alternatively, you may resort to legal action against the new owners in
accordance with our Domain Dispute Policy.
.INFO TRANSFERS
The security code you have requested is sensitive information. In order to
maintain your security, we'll need you please provide the domain you're
requesting access to, as well as the username and password the domain appears
in. You may email this request to New Domain@Addressthis
. Com.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your domain safe.
CHANGING DNS FAILURE
The most common reason for the DNS to not update is that you are putting the new
DNS information into incorrect fields. When you log into the DNS manager, you'll
see your current hosting information in the "Hostnames" fields- fields 1 and 3.
There are blank fields in fields 2 and 4 for IP addresses. You must delete the
current hosting information in the Hostnames fields, again, fields 1 and 3, and
REPLACE them with your new DNS hostnames. If you put the new DNS hostnames into
the IP address fields, fields 2 and 4, nothing will happen...
Follow these directions, again, taking care to replace the current hosting info with your new DNS hostnames.
Your host should have given you the primary and secondary DNS information.
This information will usually take this form:
Primary Hostname- ns1.examplehostname.com
Primary IP- 123.45.67.8
Secondary Hostname- ns2.examplehostname.com
Secondary IP- 123.45.67.9
You can log on to our website at www.AddressThis.com, and click the "Member
Login" link in our "Manage" section. Enter the username and password you chose
at the time of registration. If you have forgotten the username and password you
chose, you may enter the email address you entered at the time of registration
to have your username and password emailed to you.
After you log in, you will see links to the actions you can perform. Click the
"Change DNS Info" link. You will be able to see the current nameserver info
listed. Select the domain(s) whose hosting you wish to alter, and click the
"Continue" button.
On the next screen, you will be able to enter the hosting information your host
has given to you. Replace the current servers with the new server info (you may
omit the IP addresses, as they are optional), and click the "Continue" button.
Your new DNS information will be automatically entered, if it is verified to be
valid.
It will take a couple of days (24 - 48 hours) for your change to propagate
Internet-wide.
URL-FORWARDING CANCEL
URL-forwarding is automatically disabled after you make a DNS change. Because it
will take 24-48 hours for your DNS change to propagate, URL-forwarding will
remain active while the change is in progress, so that you do not experience any
down time for your website. Once your new DNS servers have propagated, however,
and your domain is no longer residing on our forwarding servers, that will
automatically render URL-forwarding inactive.
URL-forwarding will still be in your account for this domain, however, for the full length of the term you chose. You may, of course, use URL-forwarding again if your new hosting doesn't work out. You merely need to change your DNS back to our forwarding servers:
NS3.ONLINEACCESS.NET
NS4.ONLINEACCESS.NET
You may also, of course, abruptly terminate your forwarding by deleting your
forwarding address. Erase the URL you are forwarding to, and submit your change.
Your domain will resolve to an error page immediately, using the bogus URL http://no-where.
EMAIL-FORWARDING CANCEL
Email-forwarding is automatically disabled after you make a DNS change. Because it
will take 24-48 hours for your DNS change to propagate, email-forwarding will
remain active while the change is in progress, so that you do not experience any
down time for your email. Once your new DNS servers have propagated, however,
and your domain is no longer residing on our forwarding servers, that will
automatically render email-forwarding inactive.
Email-forwarding will still be in your account for this domain, however, for the full length of the term you chose. You may, of course, use email-forwarding again if your new hosting doesn't work out. You merely need to change your DNS back to our forwarding servers:
NS3.ONLINEACCESS.NET
NS4.ONLINEACCESS.NET
You may also, of course, abruptly terminate your forwarding by deleting your
forwarding address. Erase the email address you are forwarding to, and submit your change.
Emails to you will bounce immediately.
TRANSFER PAYMENTS
When a transfer is requested, payment for said transfer is not transacted at
that time. You are charged only when the admin contact approves the transfer.
When the admin contact goes to approve the transfer, we will attempt to charge the card you submitted at the time of the initial transfer request. If there is any problem with the card data originally input, however, (such as, but not limited to, a typo in the card number, an incorrect expiration or CVV2 number, etc.) the admin contact will see an error message asking them to re-verify the credit card data, so that we may complete the charge. The same card data may be re-entered, or you may wish to enter new card data, as you see fit.
Some of those who request the transfer are not the admin contacts, and would
prefer that the admin contact not pay the fee. If this is the case, the solution
is simple. Have the admin contact forward all approval emails to whomever wishes
to pay for the transfer, and that individual will be able to re-verify the card
data, if necessary.
PRICING- GoDADDY
We often receive requests about our pricing. "Why are they so low?", used to be
the most common question, as people had been accustomed to the $35.00 rate
charged by NSI and Register. We offer competitive prices because we developed an
efficient system- a better way to do things.
Lately, though, we've been hearing "Why are they so high?" from people who've heard about GoDaddy or another discount registrar.
The thing to keep in mind is this. We offer three things- domain registration and affiliated services at reasonable rates, excellent customer support, and a strict privacy policy.
The registrars who are selling domains for 8 bucks or less are not making any money on their domain sales. How, then, are they staying in business?
In most cases, they are using ultra-cheap domains as a "loss leader". They make their money from other sources, using the domains to break the ground. For example, in GoDaddy's case, they have partnered with other companies, and actively solicit you during a domain registration to purchase their partner's services, giving GoDaddy a commission. And, after the sale, your information is brokered, both your personal contact info as well as the domain's content, itself.
If cost is all you care about, you should go with the cheap registrars. We cannot match their prices, for we do not have partnerships with anyone, and we keep your personal information strictly private.
URL-FORWARDING UPDATE STATUS
You may change the status on your URL forwarding at any time by logging into the
domain manager.
Once you have logged in, click the URL-Forwarding link. On the first page, you will see the action links, and underneath will be a box containing your current forwarding information, as well as the status of those forwards.
The action links are:
"Add Forward" - To add a new URL-forward to a domain in your account, click this link. Put a checkmark next to the domain you wish to forward, and click the "Continue" button. On the next screen, enter the forwarding address, and choose the length of the forwarding term. You'll be able to choose free forwarding by placing a checkmark in the "Free" box. Finalize the payment information and click "Submit".
"Edit Forward" - To modify an existing URL-forward, click this link. Put a checkmark next to the forward you wish to modify, and click the "Continue" button. On the next screen, you may edit the forwarding address, or change from free to paid forwarding by unchecking the "Free" checkbox next to the domain. Click the "Continue" button and verify your changes.
"Renew Forward" - If your URL-forward is expiring, you may click
this link to renew it. You may only renew a forward for equal to or less than
the term remaining on the domain itself, or one year, whichever is greater.
Place a checkmark next to the domain, and click "Continue".
You'll be able to select the renewal term for your domain in the drop-down box.
Click "Continue" to verify the term and payment information.
OWNERSHIP CHANGE FAILURE
When you submit a Change of Ownership request online, you must complete 3 steps.
The first is to completely fill out the form on the first submission page.
Generally, the buyer fills this page out, as the domain will usually transfer
into the buyer's account to be under the buyer's control.
Second, this account must be specified. After you submit the online form, you'll be directed to the accounts page. Here, you can either supply the username and password to an existing account with us, or you can create a new account.
Third, you must generate the contract. Once you have specified the account of the buyer, instructions will be displayed in your browser. A new window will pop up, containing the contract. You must print out the contract and, in accordance with the instructions, sign it. The seller must also sign the contract and have it notarized.
The dual-signature, notarized document can then be faxed to (847) 895-4123.
MULTILINGUAL TRANSFERS
Multilingual domains can be transferred just like any other domain. There is
just one step that is different.
You will need to find the RACE encoding of the
domain names you wish to transfer. These can then be entered into our transfer
page just like any other domain name.
https://secure.onlineaccess.net/cart/race.php
The cost to transfer a domain is just $15.00, and this adds one year on to your registration term.

URL-FORWARDING BANNER
If you are using URL-forwarding and have noticed an AddressThis banner at
the top of your website, that is a function of our free URL-forwarding service.
URL-forwarding uses up valuable bandwidth from our servers. We offer two types
of forwarding- paid (which pays for the use of the bandwidth) or free (which
advertises our services in an attempt to recoup said costs).
If you do not wish to have an AddressThis banner at the top of your site, you may upgrade your forwarding status from free to paid at any time. The cost is just $6.00 per year per domain forwarded
You may change the status on your URL forwarding at any time by logging into the domain manager. Once you have logged in, click the URL-Forwarding link. On the first page, you will see the action links, and underneath will be a box containing your current forwarding information, as well as the status of those forwards.
"Edit Forward" - To upgrade an existing URL-forward, click this
link. Put a checkmark next to the forward you wish to upgrade, and click the
"Continue" button. On the next screen, you may change from free to paid forwarding by unchecking the
"Free" checkbox next to the domain. Click the "Continue"
button to finalize your changes.
RENEWAL NOTICES- MISTAKEN CLIENT
You may have received one of our Service Renewal notices.
If you believe that your domain is already paid up, we urge you to take another look at the email. It most likely states that "Email-Forwarding" or "URL-Forwarding" are the services expiring, and not your domain.
You can, of course, view when your domains are expiring in the Renew Your Domain section of the domain manager.
You can also renew your service that is expiring through the manager, if you wish. If you no longer need your additional service, you may choose to let it expire without renewal.
As always, if you still have questions, please include a copy of the email you received.
REGISTRATION MISTAKE
A domain once registered cannot be changed or altered in any way. If you
have made an error in your registration, you have two options. In EITHER case,
we do STRONGLY recommend that you register the correct version of your domain as
soon as possible. After that, you can do two things:
1. We recommend you keep the "incorrect" domain. Anything you type in incorrectly, your clients can make the same mistake. It all results in traffic to your website.
2. You can delete the incorrect domain. The procedure for deleting a domain follows. Please note the time restriction on refunds.
In order to delete a domain, we need the following information for security purposes.
Anything past that
time frame is not eligible for a refund.
OWNERSHIP CHANGE- NAMES
One of our most common questions is "I need to change the ownership
from my name to my companies name. They are one and the same, so I shouldn't
have to use the Change Ownership form."
Actually, that is not the case. That is analogous to saying "Bill Gates" is the same as "Microsoft". Legally, there is a very important distinction- in the eyes of the law, they are two unique and separate entities.. To continue the example, when Microsoft is charged with being a monopoly, that doesn't apply to Bill Gates personally. And if Bill Gates were to, say, get a speeding ticket or something, the penalties would be levied to him, not the whole company of Microsoft.
Thus, if ownership needs to change hands from an individual to a company,
even if that individual owns the company, the Change Ownership form must still
be used. Even if the same individual signs both his own name and signs for the
company, as well. That is what the notary public's seal of approval is for, to
judge whether or not the individual has the right to sign for the company.
SPAM II
While we do understand your frustration with spammers, you must also
appreciate our position.
You are asking us to censor a domain for doing something you don't like. They are not doing anything illegal, but because you disapprove of them, you want them shut down.
Should we shut down, for example, a domain advocating gay pride if we get complaints? Should we, for example, shut down a domain advocating Christianity if someone objects?
The answer is, of course not, in either case, and not in the case of a spammer, as well.
A domain, once purchased, is the property of the holder, to do with whatever they please, as long as they do not violate any laws. Spamming is not illegal in either the home state of this registrar, nor in the country of origin of this registrar. As such, we (and everyone who registers domains through us) are not subject to any anti-spam laws you may or may not have in your home state or country.
It is a violation of our terms of service to send unsolicited email, but that only applies to activities that adversely affect our traffic. Please note that we do not allow spammers to operate from our forwarding servers of NS3.ONLINEACCESS.NET & NS4.ONLINEACCESS.NET. Further, if the domain is hosted on NS1.AddressThis.COM & NS2.AddressThis.COM, those are our parking servers only- we do not host spammers.
Your complaints should be directed to the host of the spammer. They most likely have anti-spam policies in place, as well. You can also report spammers to anti-spam organizations. You should subscribe to an anti-spam service, if you hate it so much.
Further, please note that we have asked you not to respond to our email- by
responding, you have sent unsolicited email. Thus, you are guilty of spamming
us.
BILLING- FRAUD?
If you have received the following message:
"We're sorry, but your request for domain registration cannot be verified. In order to register a domain for the first time, you will need to set up a cash account to purchase your domains. Please contact support for the details on how to set up a cash account.
If you are an existing member, please email support with your existing username, as well as the details of your current transaction, and we will review your case.
Thank you for your cooperation."
This means that your transaction cannot be processed unless your account is proven to be in good standing with us. If you have an existing account, please email us the username of that account, and we will open up all transactions for that account.
If you do not have an existing account, you will have to set up a cash account for your first transaction:
You can set up an account with us by pre-paying with a certified check or
money order (both in U.S. Dollars). Each domain registration, renewal or
transfer will draw from this account, until the funds are depleted. The funds
can be replenished at your convenience.
Please include the username you have chosen for your new account, and send your
certified check or money order to:

CHARGEBACK RECOVERY
If you would like to recover a domain that was terminated due to a
chargeback dispute, you will need to follow this procedure, please.
1. You will need to agree to pay the fees as outlined- the original fee disputed plus a $30.00 chargeback fee per instance.
2. You will need to print out and fax in a signed copy of this agreement, along with a copy of a valid photo ID.
Please print out a copy of this email, or have another document which indicates the domain and the fees involved, and add the credit card number you'll be charging to. On this document, you will need to write your consent to this charge, and sign it. Please photocopy this document along with your valid photo ID, with your signature showing.
This provides us written authority to charge your card, which therefore cannot be charged back by you later.
Please fax this document to Customer Support at (847) 895-4123.
WHOIS INFO
It has been brought to our attention that the WHOIS information for the
domain may be inaccurate.
This, of course, is a violation of ICANN policy, as well as our Terms of Service, Section 2.1, part (c):
Whereby, you are required to provide:
"Your full name (or the name of the authorized person for contact purposes
if the domain holder is an organization, association, or corporation), postal
address, email address, voice telephone number, and fax number (if available) of
the administrative contact for the domain name"
Please note that if this failure to provide accurate WHOIS information is not remedied, in accordance with Section 2.4, we have the right to terminate this domain.
Please log into your account manager to change the contact information to
reflect accurate data as soon as possible.
NOT ENOUGH INFO
I'm sorry, but your support request does not contain enough information for
us to be able to determine what the issue is. Please be more specific.
Try your action again, and if it fails, email New
Domain@Addressthis . Com. Include the domain, the username and password of your account, the actions
you're taking, and the text of the error message you've received (if any).
FAILURE - DOMAIN LOCKED
If you have received the following message:
An error has occurred.
Please contact technical support with the following error: Fail: 564 - Status
does not allow operation 52
Your domain is most likely locked. You need to unlock it before you can perform any action, such as renewal, DNS change, etc. Login to the manager with your username and password, and return to the Registration Lock section. Click the Edit Lock link. Put a checkmark next to the domain(s) you need to unlock, and then click Continue. On the next screen, choose "NO" in the drop-down box, and continue. Your domain will be unlocked, and you can perform your action.
You may return here when you are done to re-lock your domain. You may unlock
and lock your domain an unlimited number of times at no additional charge for
the entire length of the term you have purchased your lock for.
RENEWAL- DOMAIN ON HOLD
When you are less than 5 days away from expiration, and the renewal emails
to your default email have been bounced back to us, your domain is placed on
hold, in preparation for release.
This has the effect of taking down a website, etc., as the domain stops resolving. This is to alert someone that has not received our renewal reminders that there is a problem with their website.
We release domains when they expire, so if they reach the renewal date without renewal, they will be dropped. It is most likely the domain will be re-registered as new by a cybersquatter...
So, consider the alternative. Your domain is down until you renew it, which lifts the hold status (your domain will again resolve in less than 24 hours, usually). Or, you could have lost the domain forever. Getting it back from a cybersquatter is a costly proposition, both in terms of money and time.
We urge you not to wait until the last moment. In fact, we recommend that if
your domain is important to you, that you renew it for up to 10 years. That way,
you'll not have to worry about the renewal for quite some time...
E-MAIL FORWARDING UPDATE
You can update the status on your email forwarding at any time by logging
back into the e-mail forwarding section of the manager via the Member Login link
on the left-hand side of our website. Enter your username and password. If you
have forgotten your username and password, enter the email address you used at
the time of registration, and we will email you your username and password.
Click on the "Email Forwarding" link. Your domains without forwards
will appear in the box at the top of the page. To modify or remove an existing
forward, simply modify or remove the listing at the bottom of this page.
E-MAIL FORWARDING - REPLIES
With email forwarding, someone is able to send you email through your
domain. That is a function of our system.
The return address of your email you send out, though, is not a function of our system.
Most email client software (Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.) allows you to specify your return address. This will also be the "From" email address that appears. For help on this, you'll need to check the help files in your software, or contact the manufacturer or your ISP.
Most web-based email (Hotmail and especially AOL), will not allow you to
specify your return address. In these cases, the recipient will be able to see
your "real" email address, rather than your domain email.
OUTGOING TRANSFERS - ACK
When your domain is expiring shortly, your transfer may be denied
automatically by the system. This prevents last-minute transfers, which can end
up in problems for the domain registries.
After reviewing your domain, we have noted that your domain and your account is in good standing, and the domain is not expiring within the next 72 hours.
We have, therefore, added your domain to the outgoing transfer database. This means that if there is a transfer request pending from your new registrar, the domain will transfer out, usually within 24-48 hours. If the transfer request from your new registrar has expired or been denied, your new registrar will have to resubmit the request. When the new request comes in, though, the domain will transfer out automatically, again, usually within 24-48 hours.
We regret you transferring away from us, but we do not deny transfers away out of spite. Although we'd like to work with you, we recognize that you have your reasons, and will not stand in your way of transferring to another registrar.
At this time, you should direct all your inquiries to your new registrar.
They will be responsible for everything from here on out, as the domain has been
added to our "ack" table, which means it's been approved for transfer
on our end.
TRANSFERS - RESUBMIT
If you are experiencing difficulty in resubmitting your domain for transfer,
it is most likely that there is a transfer pending.
When transfers are denied, our system attempts to resubmit them automatically. A transfer request can only be submitted once every 5 days, so, for example, if a transfer submitted on the 10th fails, it can be resubmitted on the 16th.
If a transfer is pending, please contact the current registrar to attempt to
obtain the necessary release required by most registrars. Check your email for
approval emails that may have been sent, and if there are none, you may need to
contact them directly. You usually have 72 hours from the time of submission for
the admin contact to give approval. Again, if your transfer fails, your domain
can be resubmitted after 5 days have elapsed.
TRANSFERS - CHARGES
When you submit a domain for transfer, the admin contact is asked to confirm
the intent to transfer via email. At that time, the transfer charge is made. The
transfer charge is made BEFORE the domain actually transfers, and not after.
This is for one very good reason. When a domain transfers, we are charged immediately from the central registry. So, if we transferred the domain first, and then the charge failed, we'd be stuck paying for a domain we can't receive payment on. So, it's important that we charge first and transfer second.
If the transfer fails for any reason, it can be resubmitted through the Check Transfer Status tool in the domain manager at no additional cost once every 5 days.
If you would prefer, we will refund the charge. At that time, we will also
cancel the transfer.
LOCK - FORGOT QUESTION
If you have forgotten the answer to the security question, you will have to prove you are the owner of the domain in order to get access.
We will first need a written request to provide access to the domain. This request MUST contain the following information- the domain(s) in question, the request for access to said domain, as well as your contact address, preferably email. Accompany this request with a valid photo ID (passport, drivers license, etc.) If the domain is registered to a company, we will need the signatory page of the articles of incorporation for that company. All of this information is required for security reasons. If you cannot provide any or all of this information, you will not be able to get access to this domain. Please fax all of this information to (847) 895-4123, or scan it in and email to
support@AddressThis.com. Include your contact information (email and phone), so that we may verify the information's validity.
Upon receiving this information, we will reset your security question to be blank, so that you may specify your question and answer again.
